Third finish of the year. This is called Beautiful Modern Wedding Couple Cross Stitch Pattern found on bonanza. I had it in my inbox within 4 hours of making payment and she sent me a freebie of a lion head as well. Started this on May 1st and put the last stitch in this morning. I stitched it on 28 count, 2 over 2, backstitch in 1 strand, used a few mill hill beads for the heart between happy ever after. This was Cashel linen in the color lavender bliss, used a little blending filament in the veil. I used dmc black 310 for the main color, used two shades of purple for the veil ( 211) and for the wording( 530). It did not have the wording in the pattern I pulled this from a leaflet book #95... stoney creek collection..... called "our special day".... printed 1992, printed out the chart, and then penciled in the wording to get it in the right place and spaced . The bride's favorite color is purple in any shade thus the choices. She is using the almost exact shade of purple that the wording is done in as one of her colors. I did have an opps on one of the last two swirls I was doing and miscounted. Since pulling it out was not an option.... black shadow if removing thread.... I personalized it a bit, changed the second swirl to fit the space and then added an additional swirl where the open area was too large to look balanced. I think I actually like that I oppsed this one as I was considering adding a little bit in the original open area myself and this made the decision for me. Was rushing to frame it for the shower today but the rough measurement is about 9 " x 15". This took 4 skeins of black and then just part of a skein of each of the purples and a little blending filament and maybe 6 beads.
Loved working this pattern and will probably do this one again in the future. The bride is a big princess fan and I think this is very much princess in feel and the wording sounds a bit of fairy tale to me.
